Mao’s Club was transformed from a disco style club into a hostess bar a few years ago. That can probably be deduced from the name or even the layout of the place. Speaking of the layout Mao’s Club has to be the biggest hostess bar in all of Phnom Penh.
Located one floor up off the street and overlooking both the riverside and the nearby Night Market through large windows the bar takes up quite a lot of room. Still the management did manage to fill it all up. There is an upper level with a mini and full sized pool table. Along one wall is a row of darts machines. In another corner is a worn down but usable pool table. Then there is a long bar, a premium whiskey display, cushioned booths, and lots and lots of tables and chairs. The bar fine at Mao’s Club is $10 USD which is standard for the city. Some of the women are more eager than others to leave the bar with customers though others don’t leave at all with anyone.

Le Moon was great for a romantic night out. The cocktails were top-notch.
For something more laid back, we went to The Library Bar. It’s cozy and had an extensive wine list.
